Q.1. What do you mean by electric potential at a point ?
Ans – Electric potential, the amount of work needed to move a unit charge from a reference point to a specific point against an electric field. Typically, the reference point is Earth, although any point beyond the influence of the electric field charge can be used.
Q.2. Write coulomb’s law for electrostatic force.
Ans – The magnitude of the electrostatic force F between two point charges q1 and q2 is directly proportional to the product of the magnitudes of charges and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
Q.3. What do you mean by equipotential surface ?
Ans – Equipotential surface is a surface where all the points lying on the surface have the same electric potential. This means that a charge will have the same potential energy at every point on the equipotential surface.
Q.4. Write the definition and SI unit of electric dipole moment.
Ans – Electric dipole moment is defined as the product of charge and the distance between the charges, and is directed from negative to positive charge. The SI unit of electric dipole moment is coulomb meter (Cm).

Ans – Drift velocity is the average velocity with which electrons ‘drift’ in the presence of an electric field. It’s the drift velocity (or drift speed) that contributes to the electric current.

Ans – The force exerted on a charged particle q moving with velocity v through an electric field E and magnetic field B.

Ans – Two uses of shunt:
(i)The range of ammeter reading can be extended by connecting a shunt resistance to it.
(ii) The shunt is used in the galvanometer for measuring the large current.

Ans – Capacitive reactance is an opposition to the change of voltage across an element.

Ans – The ratio of the speed of radiation (such as light) in one medium (such as air, glass, or a vacuum) to that in another medium is called refractive index.

Ans – Power of a transparent medium to separate different colors of light by refraction as measured by the difference in refractivity for two specified widely differing wavelengths divided by the refractivity at some specified intermediate wavelength.

Ans – Optical path (OP) is the trajectory that a light ray follows as it propagates through an optical medium.
